Colorado is easily one of the wildest, often untamed, and diverse states in the Union. Colorado offers 14,000 foot peaks with tundra, high and bottomland prairies, pine and deciduous forests and desert. The visitor will also notice as much cultural heritage in the state as biological diversity. Epic Bird Tours, Inc. April Colorado trip with Mike Hendrickson as guide offers participants the opportunity to see the often hard-to-find and highly sought after Grouse and Prairie Chickens. These include:

  1. Dusky Grouse - Dendragapus obscures
  2. White-tailed - Ptarmigan Lagopus leucurus
  3. Greater Prairie-Chicken - Tympanuchus cupido
  4. Lesser Prairie-Chicken - Tympanuchus pallidicinctus
  5. Sharp-tailed Grouse - Tympanuchus phasianellus
  6. Gunnison Sage-Grouse - Centrocercus minimus
  7. Greater Sage-Grouse - Centrocercus urophasianus

In addition to these wonderful species, we focus on finding the 3 Rosy-Finch species as well as several other Western Passerines, and early spring birds of Colorado.

Rufous-crowned Sparrow

Wilson's Phalarope

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
