Day 1: Birders will be picked up at the airport and transported to our overnight accommodations in Quito. In the afternoon, assuming that all participant will have arrived we will bird some local birding areas before dinner. Night in Quito.
Day 2: After an early breakfast we will head up to Yanacocha Reserve located an hour away from Quito on the slopes of the Pichincha Volcano. We will end the day at Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve. Night in Bellavista.
Day 3-7: The remainder of the week will be spent birding the extensive trails of the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve and surrounding areas of the Tandayapa Valley. At least one day will be spent birding the lower Tandayapa Valley. Another will be spent on the world-famous Nono-Mindo road. Other day trips will be to La Paz de las Aves Refuge (the home the Antpittas and the Cock-of-the-Rock lek, the Mílpe Bird Sanctuary, “La Cruce” and the Río de Silanche Bird Sanctuary.
Day 8: We will do some last minute birding on the trails around the lodge before lunch. After lunch we will head back to Quito. Here the tour ends and birders will be escorted to the airport for their respective flights.
